Get children to find family stories and do role plays on them

In every family there's a dozen or so favourite story about some relative or the other. Someone who got lost in a fair and was found, someone who poked a bamboo into a bee hive and got stung, someone who was forgetful... Ask children to find their favourite family stories involving relatives - by asking at home or even the neighbourhood.

The stories can be shared in so many ways - simply narrated, or written or made into drawings. Better still, get children to do role plays on these and write at least one of them down (for very young children, drawings should suffice).

Naturally, don't forget to include these in the children's profiles too. (And what can you do with them, perhaps, six months later?)

  1. Engaging children in discovering family stories and reenacting them through role plays is a fantastic way to blend learning with fun. It not only fosters creativity but also preserves precious family memories.
