Get children to draw their family members, and include the drawings in their portfolios

Ask children to make drawings of their family members. Not just static drawings of someone simply standing around. Get them to talk about what people do - at home, at work, or during a celebration and so on. Then ask them to draw each family member. Young children love to draw and are not afraid to put pencil to paper - so it would be a good idea not to say things such as 'that is not a proper drawing'....

Children's drawings reveal the inner working of their minds. Ask them to talk about what they've drawn. Ask questions, get them to ask each other questions about the drawings. You might find out some very interesting things!

Don't forget to include some of these drawings in the children's portfolios. They reveal their world as well as the level at which they presently draw. A year later, you can ask them to draw their families again and note the difference.

बच्चों से कहें कि वे अपने परिवारजनों के चित्र बनायें - लेकिन सिर्फ मूर्ती की तरह खड़े हुए लोगों के चित्र नहीं! उन्हें परिवार के सदस्यों के बारे में बात करने के लिए मौके दें - क्या करते हैं वे सब - घर में, काम पर, किसे उत्सव में, वगैरह. फिर उन्हें हरेक सदस्य का चित्र बनने के लिए कहें. छोटे बच्चों को चित्र बनाना बहुत अच्छा लगता है और वे कागज़ पर पेंसिल चलाने से बिलकुल नहीं घबराते - इसलिए अच्छा होगा कि इस तरह की कोई बात ना कही जाए कि 'ये ठीक से नहीं बना है'.

बच्चों के चित्रों में उनके अंतर्मन की झलक मिलती है. उनसे अपने चित्रों के बारे में बोलने के लिए कहें, और एक दूसरे से सवाल पूछने के मौके भी दें. कुछ मजेदार चीज़ें पता लगेंगी आप को!

इन चित्रों को बच्चों के पोर्टफोलियो में शामिल करना ना भूलें. उनकी दुनिया के साथ-साथ ये उनके अभी के स्तर को भी दर्शाते हैं. एक साल बाद, आप उन्हीं फिर से अपने परिवारजनों के चित्र बनने कह सकते हैं और अंतर देख सकते हैं.
